Commemorative and festive events are taking place at the Friendship Mound with the participation of official delegations from the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation. The traditional meeting at the border of the two states unites representatives of the authorities, youth, public, and guests as a sign of respect for common history and remembrance of the feat of the generation of victors.
Addressing the event participants, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Dmitry Demidov, emphasized that youth plays a special role in preserving historical memory. According to him, it is the younger generation that will continue the good tradition of meetings at the Friendship Mound and strengthen friendly ties between the peoples of Belarus and Russia.
The First Deputy Governor of the Pskov Region, Vera Emelyanova, read out the address of the Governor of the Pskov Region, Mikhail Vedernikov, which noted that the Friendship Mound preserves the memory of the courage of people who defended their native land shoulder to shoulder, and the friendship of peoples remains a strong foundation for good-neighborly relations.
The program began with a solemn meeting of official delegations, a ceremony of raising the state flags of Belarus and Russia, as well as laying wreaths and flowers at the monument to the Komsomol underground fighters of the village of Proshki and the monument to the Hero of the Great Patriotic War Maria Pynto.
The legendary song "Katyusha" added a special atmosphere to the event, which traditionally sounds on the border of the two states as a symbol of friendship, memory, and unity of peoples.
Official performances and a festive concert with the participation of creative groups from Belarus and Russia, including the group "Chisty Golos," took place on the main stage.
Thematic platforms, exhibitions, a partisan village, the youth Belarusian-Russian educational and patriotic camp "Kurgan – 2026," trade rows, and interactive projects are available for participants and guests. A special place in the program is occupied by a meeting of regional leaders with youth, dedicated to the issues of preserving historical memory and patriotic education.
The Kurgan Druzhby (Friendship Mound) remains a symbol of brotherhood, mutual respect, and common memory, uniting generations and reminding of the price of peace won by the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.
