Legendary Chernyakhovsky: His Entire Life Was a Feat!

February 18 marks the 75th anniversary of the death of Ivan Danilovich Chernyakhovsky, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He died in 1945, less than three months before Victory Day. Chernyakhovsky was the youngest front commander in the history of the Great Patriotic War. In order to preserve the historical memory of the commander's merits, prosecutors from the Vitebsk region visited the State Institution "Centralized Library System of Vitebsk" where a meeting was held dedicated to the anniversary of the commander's death.

The library staff told the audience about the life, service, exploits, and death of Ivan Danilovich. Listening attentively to the captivating story of Chernyakhovsky's exploits, supplemented by a documentary film, the prosecutors immersed themselves in the historical chronicles of the war years.

After that, Vladimir Ivanovich Guk, Deputy Prosecutor of the region, together with employees of the regional prosecutor's office, honored the memory of Chernyakhovsky by laying flowers at the memorial plaque installed on the avenue of the same name in Vitebsk.

Also, employees of the Dubrovno district prosecutor's office, with the participation of representatives of the military commissariat of Orsha and Dubrovno districts, the Dubrovno District Executive Committee, the District Center for Folk Art and Cultural Leisure Activities of the Dubrovno District, and the media, held a rally at the location of Chernyakhovsky I.D.'s command post in the agro-town of Redki, Dubrovno district, on the occasion of the anniversary of the commander's death. Flowers and wreaths were laid at the memorial plaque.

Such commemorative events contribute to preserving the memory of the merits of outstanding personalities in the history of the Fatherland.
