Chronicle of military events. "Victory Train" arrived in Vitebsk

30.06.2026

The world's first interactive mobile exhibition dedicated to the heroism and feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War has arrived in the northern region. This is a tribute to those who bravely and steadfastly defended our Motherland, sparing no effort, and gave us a peaceful sky overhead.

Before visiting the "Victory Train," a rally was held, attended by representatives of authorities and public associations, and students from the transport class of Vitebsk Secondary School No. 17 named after I. Bumagin.

– 85 years ago, our ancestors did not know how the war would end, that the victorious May would come in 1945. They could only believe the words of Yuri Levitan: "Our cause is just! The enemy will be defeated! Victory will be ours!" There were many hot, rainy, and frosty days. Our grandfathers and great-grandfathers fought on the fronts in any weather for freedom and independence, for a peaceful sky overhead. In the carriages of the mobile museum, we saw peaceful times and the horrors of war that our ancestors endured. I want to express my gratitude to the management of the Belarusian and Russian railways for giving us today the unique opportunity to touch history, – noted Viktor Glushin, Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee.

Residents of Brest, Baranovichi, Grodno, Gomel, and Mogilev have already visited the museum's exhibition. The northern capital is next.

Every year, the number of people wishing to visit the "Victory Train" increases, which confirms the significance of the project. Residents of Gorodok, Lyudmila and Viktor Rudakov, waited for the train's arrival from early morning to be among the first to see the exhibition.

– It is very painful and frightening to realize that our ancestors actually experienced everything they saw. Being in the carriages, you are transported to that terrible time when people were experimented on, tortured, and killed. Everyone should see the exhibition, especially young people, to better know history and be proud of the Fatherland's defenders, – emphasized Lyudmila and Viktor Rudakov.

The route of the "Victory Train" is planned taking into account the significant and memorable dates of the Republic of Belarus. Thus, in the year of the 85th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, the train arrived in Brest on June 21, on the eve of the Day of All-Belarusian Remembrance of the Victims of the Great Patriotic War and the Genocide of the Belarusian People. In Mogilev, the exhibition was open on June 28, the Day of the City's Liberation from the Nazi invaders.

– It is impossible to put into words the feelings I experienced while being in the carriages of the "Victory Train". It is hard to observe how, in pre-war times, people made plans for the future, were happy, and in one second their lives changed. The war disrupted all plans, but our ancestors fought for the Great Victory until the very end. I am proud of their feat, and I will always remember at what cost our freedom was won, – said Anastasia Klyueva, a student of the transport class at Secondary School No. 17 of Vitebsk named after I. Bumagin.

Her classmate Alena Bulykina is convinced that the feat of the Fatherland's defenders is immortal.

– I am a patriot of my country. I often participate in events and projects related to the historical past. The "Victory Train" is a unique exhibition that helps young people get acquainted with history more deeply, learn about the heroic past of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers. It is important that the number of such projects increases, as it is a memory of those who defended the freedom and independence of our country at the cost of their own lives, – emphasized Alena Bulykina.

The route of the "Victory Train" will conclude in Minsk – during the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.
