The best teachers of the Vitebsk region in 2017 were honored at the regional executive committee

On October 25, the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, held a ceremonial reception for the pedagogical team of the Vitebsk region, which was recognized as the best in the professional skills competition "Teacher of the Year of the Republic of Belarus — 2017".

This competition was held in the country for the 25th time, and its distinctive feature in the 2016-2017 academic year was the competition in eight nominations. Three subject teachers from our region won the republican stage and were awarded the honorable and well-deserved title of "Teacher of the Year". Svetlana Rumyantseva, a teacher of Belarusian language and literature at Borovukha Secondary School No. 15 in Novopolotsk, took first place in her nomination. Andrei Ivanov, a teacher at Secondary School No. 3 in Orsha, became the winner among history and social studies teachers, and Marina Yurieva, a biology teacher at Gymnasium No. 5 in Vitebsk, was recognized as the best in the "Geography, Chemistry, Biology" nomination.

Marina Valentinovna teaches the subject in grades 6-11, takes a creative approach to organizing lessons, and involves students in research activities.

At the professional skills competition, which is essentially one of the ways to generalize and disseminate advanced teaching experience, she demonstrated a practice-oriented approach to teaching biology and gave two lessons — for 11th and 7th grades. One of them, on the topic of "Pathogenic Bacteria," was a so-called "night" lesson, when the teacher received the assignment at 5 a.m. and presented the lesson plan to the jury by 7 a.m. Marina Yuryevna passed this exam with flying colors as well.

She perceived the title "Teacher of the Year" as a high assessment of her work, but also noted that in her daily teaching practice, the most important reward for her is the success of her students.

Her colleagues, participants of the reception, are in solidarity with this.

The head of the region, Nikolai Sherstnev, presented the winners of the "Teacher of the Year of the Republic of Belarus-2017" competition with honorary diplomas of the Regional Executive Committee.

The regional team, which demonstrated high professionalism and excellent methodological training in the final and superfinal of the competition, and took first place among all regions of the republic, was led by Lyubov Vilenchik, a methodologist of the highest qualification category of the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education. Together with her, Dmitry Matskevich, a mathematics teacher at Braslav Gymnasium, Irina Vasilenko, director of Borovukha Secondary School No. 15, Lyudmila Deriba, director of Vitebsk Gymnasium No. 5, and Alla Sinyavskaya, director of Orsha Secondary School No. 3, were awarded the Gratitude of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee.

— You are great! — Nikolai Nikolaevich addressed the educators. — You are the best team in the republic. Perhaps this is the primary result that we have achieved thanks to our small reforms initiated in education. Success is probably a pattern... When the government creates conditions for the professional realization of educators, so that you can maximally impart knowledge to children, then there is a result. I think this is just the beginning.

What else should the government do for the development of education and for children to receive quality knowledge, so that they can find themselves in life and become worthy citizens of their country? Nikolai Sherstnev discussed these issues in a conversation with educators.
