'MediaProfi 2026': A specialized journalism squad has launched at 'Druzhnye Rebyata'

The fourth shift has started at the "Druzhnye Rebyata" educational and recreational camp, and with it, the second season of the specialized squad of young correspondents "MediaProfi".

The solemn opening was attended by Dmitry Andreev, Director of the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth; Irina Starovoytova, Head of the camp and methodologist of the Vitebsk Regional Palace of Children and Youth; and Yulia Novikova, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the regional newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti".

The idea, born in 2025, has proven its viability: children are ready not only to relax but also to try their hand at being journalists and bloggers.

According to a good tradition, the main symbol of the squad, the cat "Vestik," was solemnly handed over to the counselors of the specialized squad. Now, throughout the entire shift, the fluffy mascot will inspire the children to create new reports.

- For these two weeks, the "Druzhnye Rebyata" camp transforms from an ordinary place for recreation into a real interactive open-air media center. Our "MediaProfi" will cover the camp's events, manage social media, and create a squad newspaper. Experienced correspondents will share the secrets of content creation with the children and immerse them in the journalism profession. The authors of the most interesting reports will receive pleasant bonuses – their materials will be published in the pages and social media of the regional newspaper "Vitebskiye Vesti," and the children will be invited to improve their journalism skills in the fourth stream of the Vitebsk Region Media Lab, - said Yulia Novikova.

Tomorrow, master classes on shooting and editing on a phone, and working with neural networks await the children.
