Currently, theft is one of the most frequently committed crimes. These crimes are often committed on the territory of railway stations and in train carriages, and victims themselves contribute to this by forgetting their personal belongings and leaving them unattended.

The Vitebsk Transport Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against M., who committed a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus ("Secret misappropriation of property (theft)").

In the winter of 2022, a resident of Orsha, D., was traveling on one of the regional economy-class trains. When leaving the train carriage at the Orsha-Tsentralnaya station, the young woman left her wireless headphones on a passenger seat.

Subsequently, a resident of Orsha, M., walked past this seat, found the headphones, and, taking advantage of the fact that no one was observing his actions, stole them and subsequently disposed of them as he saw fit, thereby causing property damage to the victim.

By the verdict of the Court of Orsha District and the city of Orsha, the accused M. was found guilty of secret misappropriation of property (theft).

Taking into account all the circumstances of the case and the identity of the accused, he was sentenced to 240 hours of community service.

Currently, the court's verdict has entered into legal force.

Dear citizens, please be vigilant when traveling by rail, do not forget your belongings on passenger seats, and do not leave them unattended!
