A Memorandum of Understanding on the development of bilateral relations was signed by women's organizations of Belarus and Uzbekistan
"We are very pleased to be in Vitebsk," noted Olga Shpilevskaya, Chairperson of the Belarusian Women's Union (BSZh). "It is gratifying that our Uzbek guests will also enjoy this beautiful city and gain unforgettable impressions. Today, we are talking not only about the economy but also about the social sphere, about projects aimed at the health of women and children. And even in terms of organizing our work, we are interested in the Uzbek experience because BSZh is a public organization, while theirs is governmental. We want the regions to cooperate with each other as well. The signing of two Memoranda of Cooperation documents will contribute to this."
Umida Abdullaeva, First Deputy Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women's Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, supported her Belarusian colleague.
"For a woman, family always comes first," emphasized Umida Khazratovna. "We are interested in how Belarusian women strengthen their family's well-being and how they raise children. In the era of globalization, there is a huge flow of information, and we must instill immunity in the younger generation against ideas alien to us."
There are many points of contact between the Belarusian and Uzbek peoples. One of the most significant is the perpetuation of the memory of heroism on the fronts and on the home front during the Great Patriotic War. Therefore, the idea to create and implement a project dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory resonated strongly. Belarus was occupied by the fascists, and Uzbekistan sheltered over one and a half million women and children on its land. Approximately the same number of Uzbek men went to the front. The memory of those events is alive in both countries, and it has become the foundation of a strong friendship.
The meeting was held in a warm, informal atmosphere. Issues of cooperation between the Vitebsk Regional Organization of the Belarusian Women's Union, headed by Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs, and the Department for Family and Women's Affairs of Tashkent, led by Shakhnoza Sultano va, were discussed.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the development of bilateral relations was signed between the Club of Business Women under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Union "Women Entrepreneurs and Business Women" of Uzbekistan, and the unified organization of entrepreneurial entities of the Belarusian Women's Union, which was signed by Mamalakot Sodikova and Elena Prokhorova.
