The Bernardine Monastery in Dubrovno was sold at auction for the base value

An unused architectural monument of the 19th century, the monastery building in the town of Dubrovno, was sold at an electronic auction organized by the State Property Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

Bernardine monks settled in Dubrovno back in the early 17th century. In 1630, a wooden male monastery was built here.

Unfortunately, the buildings from those times have not survived to this day, only the stone residential building, erected in 1809, has survived.

This stone building was constructed under the new owner of Dubrovno, Franciszek Lubomirski. There is even a legend that it was on Lubomirski's orders that the Bernardine church was set on fire. Allegedly, in revenge for the monks marrying his daughter to a poor nobleman. However, quickly repenting of his actions, Lubomirski began to restore the monastery.

In recent years, the monastery building has been offered for sale at auction 7 times, but there were no buyers.

The new owner is a private enterprise from Minsk operating in the healthcare sector.

The sale price was 44 Belarusian rubles.

According to the terms of sale, the new owner must carry out repair and restoration work within no more than five years after acquiring the building.

Currently, the committee offers 7 objects with the status of historical and cultural value for sale. Among them are a monastery in Glubokoye, manor houses in Tolochinsky and Ushachsky districts, a station house and a spirit factory building in Senno district. Most of the objects are offered for sale at auction with an initial price equal to one base value.
