«We are responsible for those we have tamed!»

The Vitebsk animal shelter for homeless animals is maintained by the State Enterprise "Spetsavtobaza of Vitebsk" and is currently the only institution of its kind in the Republic of Belarus where pets are not euthanized.

On August 16 of this year, the shelter celebrates its 10th anniversary.

On the eve of the holiday, the Vitebsk City Prosecutor's Office, continuing the good tradition of helping not only those whose rights and interests are violated, but also those who cannot "defend" themselves – our little brothers, once again visited the Vitebsk animal shelter for homeless animals.

Words of gratitude were expressed to the staff and administration of the shelter for their diligent and difficult work, and items for pet care were handed over.

Holding such events serves as a reminder of the need to participate in the fate of homeless animals, as well as to foster a caring and responsible attitude towards our little brothers, compassion and kindness among citizens, as the problem of irresponsible human attitude towards animals is currently not losing its relevance.

Currently, the shelter houses 23 cats and 276 dogs, of which 103 are puppies.

Unfortunately, for some people, loyalty and responsibility for those they have tamed remain an empty sound.

Thus, precisely during the visit of the prosecutor's office staff to the shelter, a man arrived at the shelter building who wanted to get rid of his 4-year-old German Shepherd dog.

Shelter staff explained to him that animals are accepted only through the capture service. The shelter does not accept animals from the public and exists solely thanks to voluntary donations and the help of indifferent citizens.

After listening to the shelter employee, the man drove off the shelter territory, threw the dog out of the car, and drove away.

Of course, the shelter staff did not abandon the abandoned dog in trouble and took her in.

We hope that the German Shepherd will soon find its loving, devoted, and responsible owners.
