The number of fires has increased in the Vitebsk region

Over the 4 months of the current year, 268 fires occurred, which is 32 more fires than in the same period of 2016, resulting in 44 (34) deaths and 25 (15) injuries. The fires destroyed 46 (54) buildings, 5 (25) tons of fodder, 11 (13) units of equipment, and 7 (0) heads of cattle. Total economic losses amounted to 27,827 million rubles.

An increase in the number of fires occurred in Braslav district – from 3 to 10, Glubokskoye district – from 7 to 17, Gorodok district – from 10 to 13, Dokshitsy district – from 4 to 9, Miory district – from 3 to 11, Rossony district – from 3 to 5, Tolochin district – from 9 to 13, Ushachi district – from 5 to 8, Shumilino district – from 4 to 6, and the city of Vitebsk – from 35 to 43.

The largest number of fires were registered in the city of Vitebsk (43), Orsha region (25), Polotsk region (22), Vitebsk and Glubokskoye districts (17 each), Gorodok, Senno, and Tolochin districts (13 each).

The situation with people dying in fires has become particularly acute.

In the city of Vitebsk, 5 people died in fires; in Dokshitsy and Polotsk districts, 4 people each; in Gorodok, Senno, Tolochin, and Chashniki districts, 3 people each.

The number of administrative protocols drawn up against guilty persons for violating fire safety rules (Article 23.56 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) for the analyzed period was 60, which is 41 protocols less than for the 4 months of 2016.

Analysis of statistical data showed that the number of fires with fatalities and injuries has significantly increased. The work carried out by the employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Vitebsk region is unsatisfactory, as the measures taken by them in the form of information notices (155) and submissions (36) are an ineffective way to prevent fires and conflagrations in the region.

Prosecutors of cities and districts have prepared instructions on taking additional measures to strengthen prosecutorial supervision over the activities of the GO-ROCHS in fire prevention.
