28.05.2026
Over the past four months, the Vitebsk region has fulfilled two out of three target indicators: for attracting investment, wage growth, and targets for commissioning rental housing and producing import-substituting products. Growth in exports of goods and services has been ensured. This information was announced at the meeting of the Oblast Executive Committee, where the results of the region's socio-economic development for the past period of this year were considered, by Dmitry Novatsky, Chairman of the Economics Committee of the Oblast Executive Committee. Igor Sergeenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic and Plenipotentiary Representative of the Head of State in the Vitebsk Region, took part in the discussion of this important issue.
"The pace is quite good, including against the national background. Overall, the dynamics are positive. In industry, we have maintained last year's level of gross value added, ensured growth in pharmaceuticals, food industry, production of chemical products, electrical equipment, wood and paper products. The region's enterprises have ensured profitable and efficient operation. Retail turnover has increased. About 1.5 billion rubles of investments have been attracted, an investment portfolio has been formed, which includes 116 main projects, 51 of which are planned to be completed this year," noted Dmitry Novatsky.
Positive results have been achieved in foreign economic activity. Exports of tourism services have increased 1.6 times.
"Today, the task is to identify reserves, set priorities, and give key instructions so that by the end of the half-year, we can catch up on the existing lag in some areas and achieve positive results," emphasized the head of the committee.
The head of the traffic police department of the regional executive committee's internal affairs directorate, Mikhail Dyadichkin, reported on the measures taken by executive and administrative authorities to prevent road traffic accidents.
– The number of road traffic accidents in the region has decreased, and the number of fatalities in accidents has halved. This is the result of joint work with authorities. However, problematic issues remain, concerning traffic management, child injuries, accidents involving wild animals, and others, – explained Mikhail Dyadichkin.
Proposals were submitted to the regional executive committee meeting to install lighting, including the use of solar panels, near pedestrian crossings on republican roads. It is also necessary to use special engineering solutions on roads with three or more lanes. Installing protective netting on first-category republican and local roads will help prevent accidents involving wild animals.
The issue of the progress of educational institutions' preparation for the new 2026-2027 academic year was also submitted to the regional executive committee meeting. As emphasized by Dmitry Khoma, head of the main education department, this work does not stop for a moment.
– Preparations for the new academic year have been underway since September last year. Design and estimate documentation is being prepared, and surveys are being conducted. The main work will be done during the summer period. Repair work will begin directly during the holidays, – noted Dmitry Khoma.
The regional budget provides for over 90 million rubles, which will be used for the purchase of necessary equipment, capital and current repairs. This year, it is planned to commission a preschool institution in Lepel and complete the reconstruction of Gymnasium No. 1 in Vitebsk.
