The meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee discussed issues of socio-economic development of the region

The meeting discussed issues of socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region and tasks for the current year. The governor noted that the key task for the region as a whole and for each specific enterprise in particular is to increase operational efficiency. It is necessary to build a development strategy, define primary and long-term goals. The priority for the current year is to achieve an average salary level of $500.

"To accomplish this task, it is necessary to increase the gross regional product by 1.6 times. Working in the established rut, this cannot be achieved. We must have strategic planning. We need to seek solutions, make proposals for cost reduction, and clearly see the prospects," emphasized Nikolai Sherstnev.

In this regard, it was noted that the leadership of OJSC "BelVitunipharm" will soon change. The work of the management of OJSC "Obol Ceramic Plant" was also characterized negatively (a large-scale modernization was carried out at the enterprise, but the products are not being sold). The governor noted that, in general, issues of further activities of enterprises in the construction industry need to be seriously addressed. In particular, focus should be placed on solving the problems of OJSC "Dolomit," where energy resources account for the lion's share of production costs.
