Supervision over compliance with the requirements of Presidential Decree No. 18

Systematic work is being carried out in the Vitebsk region to protect children's rights. The prosecutor's offices of the Vitebsk region constantly coordinate and verify the activities of prevention entities in implementing the requirements of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 18 of 24.11.2006 "On Additional Measures for State Protection of Children in Unfavorable Families", and increasing the responsibility of negligent parents.

In May-June, the regional prosecutor's office organized an inspection of the implementation of the requirements of Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 18 of 24.11.2006 regarding the organization of work with persons obliged to reimburse the state for the costs of maintaining children from whom they have been deprived of parental rights. It was established that in a number of regions, the work of internal affairs bodies, coordination councils of executive committees on the implementation of Decree No. 18 with such persons is organized formally, there are violations in bringing obligated persons to administrative responsibility for evading work, and the interaction between employers, internal affairs bodies, and executive committees is not always effective. For the reporting period, the level of reimbursement of these funds increased from 61.7% to 67%.
