The "award" has found its hero

Not so long ago, a poster with the following content appeared in Vitebsk: "Remember your child! Pay alimony!". Children are not to blame for the fact that their mother and father could not agree on something or had different opinions, and even more so for the fact that the mother and father preferred to stay with the "green serpent" rather than raise their child, to whom they recently gave life.

Thus, in 2015, under Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus (Evasion of parents from supporting children or from reimbursing expenses incurred by the state for the maintenance of children who are or were in state care), 893 criminal cases were initiated, and in 2 months of 2016 – 133.

Fathers, most often, come up with all sorts of excuses to avoid paying child support: they move to another country, or simply do not work anywhere, or hide their real income. But one case deserves attention. A resident of the Vitebsk region married a girl from the capital. Soon, a child was born, then a divorce, and alimony. Initially, he paid child support for his daughter regularly, but then, as usual, non-payment, constant calls from the bailiff, and as a result, a large alimony debt.

This is where the adventures of our "hero" A. began. He moves from one district of Minsk to another and changes his place of work, and consequently, the writ of execution is sent to another enforcement department and to another enterprise. After some time, he moves to another district of Minsk (fortunately, there are 9 districts in Minsk). And renting an apartment in Minsk is not cheap. He has money for this. In the end, the guy decides to return to his mother in Vitebsk

region, but the writ of execution also arrived here. As a result, the regional prosecutor's office initiated a criminal case against the negligent father under Part 1 of Article 174 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, who from December 2013 to April 2015 did not pay alimony for his daughter. The debt amounted to more than 30 million Belarusian rubles.

By the court verdict, A. was found guilty and sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of restriction of liberty without being sent to an open-type correctional institution. No matter how A. tried to evade justice, punishment still found its "hero".
