A criminal case for illegal fishing, resulting in damage of a large scale, has been sent to court
The Vitebsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has reviewed and sent to the Lepel District Court for substantive consideration a criminal case against a 32-year-old resident of Lepel District, accused of illegal fishing, which resulted in damage on a large scale.
The man is charged with the fact that on November 27, 2017, during a prohibited period, without proper permission, using prohibited means – a small vessel (wooden boat), he intentionally and illegally set prohibited gillnet fishing gear on Lake Kamen, located near the agro-town of Kamen, Lepel District, after which, continuing his criminal actions, he illegally caught fish, namely 11 roaches and 1 bream, thereby causing environmental damage totaling 2,576 rubles, which is equivalent to 112 base units.
The previously applied measure of restraint against the accused in the form of a written undertaking not to leave and to behave properly has been left unchanged.
