The joint scientific and practical conference of the associations of coloproctologists of Belarus and Russia with international participation "Topical issues of coloproctology" was held at the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University.
Leading specialists in the field of coloproctology from Belarus, Russia, Switzerland, England, USA, India, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan took part in the event.
The chief physician of the regional clinical specialized center, the chief freelance proctologist of the Ministry of Health, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Valery Denisenko emphasized that a conference of this scale is being held in Vitebsk for the first time. The focus of the participants is on topical issues of modern coloproctology: from complex cases of rectal fistulas to criteria for correct intestinal stoma application. The sections "Live Surgery", "Oncopathology and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases", "Minor Proctology and Rehabilitation" worked, and organ-preserving and laser technologies in outpatient practice were discussed.
– For two days, 45 world-class experts from different countries actively exchanged experiences, – noted Valery Denisenko. – We discussed new methodologies, promising technologies that are used all over the world. I can confidently say that Belarus is not lagging behind the leading countries. And thanks to such conferences, we bring the newest, most advanced things to the republic. There is professional, scientific growth, new ways of solving problems in one area or another are opening up. All speakers presented videos demonstrating their developments. Participants from far abroad joined the conference online.
The organizers note that the intensive exchange of experience between Belarusian and foreign colleagues will launch new joint research and methodologies capable of improving the quality of life of patients.
