Science and Technology Park based on JSC "Vityaz" in Vitebsk: the concept was supported by the head of the National Bank, Roman Golovchenko

Научно-технологический парк на базе ОАО «Витязь» в Витебске: концепцию поддержал глава Нацбанка Роман Головченко

A science and technology park is being established on the basis of JSC "Vityaz". The project implementation is envisaged by the development strategy of the Vitebsk region for 2025–2030.

After hearing the concept for the creation of the new facility, the idea was supported by the Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko. He familiarized himself with the enterprise's capabilities and discussed the roadmap for creation and financing with the region's leadership.

– In fact, this is a very common global trend when the state creates the most comfortable conditions for manufacturing businesses to facilitate their entry into projects. Because many entrepreneurs may not have enough funds or opportunities to obtain credit resources to invest in production facilities, – noted Roman Golovchenko. – And in general, in our regional cities and the capital, there is a certain problem with areas that would be prepared for working with small-scale production, where one can actually come and, figuratively speaking, start producing products within a week.

Roman Golovchenko emphasized that technoparks are not so much about benefits or preferences as about providing entrepreneurs with a seamless entry into the sphere of production. This is because the state undertakes investments in infrastructure and utilities – you just move in, install equipment, and start producing. The head of the National Bank cited the Minsk Motorcycle and Bicycle Plant as an example, where a part of the premises was allocated for such a technopark – its activity proved to be very effective. Therefore, this work should be scaled up to the entire country.

According to the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Anzhelika Nikitina, the science and technology park should become multifunctional and concentrate the main high-tech industries of the Vitebsk region. There is interest from enterprises in instrument engineering, machine building, and machine tool manufacturing, including entities in the non-state sector of the economy. The technopark will be open to foreign investors interested in investment cooperation, as well as higher and secondary vocational education institutions. Anzhelika Nikitina emphasized that OJSC "Vityaz" today is not only a manufacturer of televisions but also a high-tech base, ranging from metal processing to laser programming.
