Do not endanger your life

A large number of passenger and freight trains pass through the railway daily. Currently, increased train speeds have been introduced on most sections of the Belarusian railways. It is impossible to stop a moving train instantly if necessary, as its calculated braking distance is from 800 to 1600 meters, taking up to one minute. Even when the locomotive driver applies emergency braking, the train, due to its speed and enormous mass, continues to move by inertia. Therefore, the presence of people on railway tracks and in places not designated for crossing, or their unexpected appearance on the tracks at the moment a train is passing, can lead to an accident.

For example, in January of this year, an unemployed resident of Orshansky district, D., born in 1974, being in an intoxicated state at the "Solnechny" stopping point, located on the "Moscow-Brest" railway line, attempted to cross the railway in front of an approaching interregional business-class train "Minsk-Orsha" ("Stadler"), which, as the speed recorder tape analysis showed, was moving at a speed of about 120 km/h. She had no chance of survival.

In March 2020, a resident of one of the villages of Senno district, S., born in 1982, who was also on the railway tracks while intoxicated, was fatally injured by a regional economy-class train "Lepel-Orsha" near the village of Komarovo.

Unfortunately, such examples are not uncommon. Therefore, everyone must always remember that neglecting caution on the railway, which is a high-risk area, can have severe consequences.
