Non-occupational injuries at the facilities of Belarusian Railway

The cause of most non-industrial injuries at Belarusian Railway facilities is personal carelessness and non-compliance by citizens with the Safety Rules on Railway Transport.

Thus, on 17.04.2017, at the railway crossing of Orsha-Tsentralnaya station, a resident of Lepel, born in 1980, who was intoxicated, was injured by a regional economy-class train en route "Orsha-Krasnoe" that was being prepared for passenger boarding.

The injury of the citizen by rolling stock was not a consequence of violation of railway transport traffic safety rules, norms and regulations for the technical maintenance of the railway, but occurred due to the fault of the victim himself (being in a state of intoxication in a high-risk zone, which is the territory where railway lines and other railway transport communications are located, personal inattention, ignoring elementary safety measures).

Facts of violation of road traffic safety legislation at railway crossings still occur.

In May-July of the current year, the Transport Prosecutor's Office, using more than a dozen video cameras installed at the Orsha-Tsentralnaya railway station and its adjacent territory, identified more than 60 drivers who drove through the railway crossing located near the Orsha Bus Station building (the square in front of the railway station) against a red traffic light.

Drivers who violated the rules for crossing railway crossings were brought to administrative responsibility under Art. 18.15 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses in the form of a fine from two to four base units.
