9 athletes from the Vitebsk region will compete in the Tokyo Olympic Games

Today in Tokyo, the official opening of the XXXII Summer Olympic Games takes place. For those who plan to cheer for the athletes from the Vitebsk region through television broadcasts, we will briefly outline the rules of the disciplines in which our compatriots will participate. We will also indicate the start times of the competitions (Belarusian time in parentheses).

High Jump

In the preliminary stage and in the final, three attempts are given at each height. A successful attempt is marked by the judge with a white flag. If the bar falls from the uprights after the white flag has been raised, the attempt is considered valid. If there are participants with identical results, victory is awarded to the one who cleared a certain height in fewer attempts. If there is still a tie, the winner is the jumper with fewer failed attempts.

Maksim Nedasekau: July 30, 09:00 (03:00).

Triple Jump

For women, the take-off board for the jump is located 11 meters from the sandpit.
The first element is a hop, with the first contact after the board being made with the same foot the jumper started with. This is followed by the second element, a step (the ground must be touched with the other foot). The final element is the jump itself. An attempt is not counted if a foot not actively involved in performing that part of the jump touches the ground.

Violetta Skvortsova: July 30, 19:00 (13:00).

Trampoline Gymnastics

The preliminary stage of the competition consists of a compulsory exercise (the score is calculated from points for execution, horizontal displacement, flight time, and a difficulty coefficient for 4 out of 10 elements, not repeated in the free exercise) and a free exercise (the score is calculated from points for execution, horizontal displacement, flight time, and a difficulty coefficient for all 10 elements). Semifinal and final competitions usually consist of only one free exercise.

Ivan Litvinovich, Vladislav Goncharov: July 31, 13:00 (07:00).

Hammer Throw

The hammer is a metal ball connected by a steel wire to a handle. The length of the hammer for men is 117 – 121.5 cm, and the total mass is 7.265 kg. When throwing, the athlete stands in a special circle with a diameter of 2.135 m, within which they spin and throw the athletic implement. For the attempt to be counted, the athlete must leave the circle only after the hammer hits the ground and only from the back side of the circle. In addition, the hammer must fall within the designated sector, enclosed by a net.

Gleb Dudarev, Yuri Vasilchenko: August 2, 09:00 (03:00).

110m Hurdles

The height of the hurdle for men is 1.067 m. There are 10 hurdles placed along the distance, with 9.14 m between them.

Vitaly Parakhonko: August 3, 19:00 (13:00).

50km Race Walk

The main error recorded by judges is a violation of the walking style, when both feet are off the ground.

Dmitry Dyubin: August 6, 05:30 (23:30).

Track Cycling: Omnium

This discipline includes: scratch race, tempo race, elimination race, and points race (20 km for women). The results of the first three races are used to determine the overall standings. For first place in each discipline, the athlete is awarded 40 points, with each subsequent place receiving 2 fewer points. The final competition, the points race, is conducted considering the accumulated points, meaning points are added to or subtracted from those previously earned. The winner of the omnium is the athlete who has accumulated the most points.

Tatsiana Sharakova: August 8, 15:30 (09:30).
