Alexander Lukashenko spoke at the opening of "Dozhinki" in Polotsk and awarded the best workers of the Vitebsk region's agro-industrial complex
"We must finally resolve the issue of the Vitebsk region in the next five-year period. Resolve it in a positive way and decide what we will do here," said the head of state. - "We have a very difficult job ahead of us. We will help those who yield results. We cannot bury other people's money in the ground. Help is when we take from someone and give to you. A simple formula. Take - give back."
It is intellectual technologies that should become the locomotive of progress in Belarus.
"We must compensate for the lack of natural advantages and the resulting difficulties – a cold climate, difficult soils, a shortage of hydrocarbon fuels – with what we are particularly strong in – intellect, brains. And this applies not only to the Vitebsk region," noted Alexander Lukashenko.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sets the task to double the export of flax products within five years.
"Belarusian specialists have learned to produce high-quality, fine fabrics and other products in demand on world markets. In fact, we have achieved a zero-waste production cycle. However, there are still many reserves. It is clear that linen fabrics will be in demand. We need to at least approach the previous Soviet volumes and double exports within five years. Moreover, prices have started to rise. This fully applies to other regions involved in flax cultivation as well," said the head of state. - "I repeat, a breakthrough is needed. From farmers, scientists, engineers. We need to learn to cultivate high-quality long-fiber flax, constantly increase the volumes of raw materials and products. We need to more boldly expand the areas of application, look for ways to create new non-traditional materials, for example, composites."
Care for nature has become a national brand of Belarus.
"In pursuit of progress, we must not forget about ecology. Especially here, in the Vitebsk region, which is famous as a land of protected forests, pristine blue lakes and untouched swamps, and this is oxygen. We must not abandon what has become a national brand - care for nature," said Alexander Lukashenko.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko considers it necessary to develop a standard social package for young specialists who will work in rural areas.
"The village must keep up with the times. We need to bring young people back to the village and involve them in solving innovative tasks, create conditions for this and give them the opportunity to prove themselves. We need to trust young people," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
"And if we talk about conditions, we cannot ignore material incentives either. It is necessary to develop a standard social package for young specialists who go to work in rural areas (rental housing, financial, transport support, and so on)," the President stated. Every Belarusian should visit Polotsk at least once in their life.
"A grand, generous harvest festival has once again come to glorious Polotsk - the treasury of the Belarusian land. You must visit your beautiful museum-city, where every stone breathes history, at least once in your life," the Belarusian leader noted.
He stressed that twelve hundred years ago, the arduous, extremely difficult path of the Belarusian people to their own statehood began here.
"Vitebsk region is famous for its ancient history, natural beauty and traditions, which you cherish and multiply. It is also a legendary partisan land, where the memory of the heroes who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland is carefully preserved. Today, this is more important than ever. Just like peace and tranquility in our land, the price of which we know very well and which must be defended and protected with all our might," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
The President awarded the best agricultural workers of the Vitebsk region. You are the foundation of our life and our security. It is thanks to you that we have not been drawn into wars and conflicts.
Alexander Firsin, Director of the Yubileiny agro-industrial complex, received the Order of Labor Glory from the President, and Vyacheslav Anikovich, a tractor driver-machinist at the Torguny production facility, received the Order of Honor.
"As I was presenting the awards, I thought that people were from all districts. And these are people from the best farms. This means that there are examples of good farms in every district. We just need to replicate their experience. And why shouldn't we start spreading this experience in these districts? We must always start from the land," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.
The head of state is convinced that great things can be accomplished in the Vitebsk region.
