Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin expressed words of welcome and gratitude on the occasion of the opening of the pearl of the Orthodox world – the Transfiguration Church in Polotsk – after restoration work.
– It is a special honor for the Vitebsk region to welcome guests on the land where the first stone was laid not only for the construction of the Euphrosyne Monastery, but also for the statehood of the Belarusian people, by Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk, – noted the head of the region. – Belarus treats its churches with care, many of which are part of the country's treasury of historical and cultural heritage. Thus, thanks to the joint efforts of the church and the state, the restoration of this unparalleled temple became possible, and the doors of this unique monument of 12th-century architecture have opened to all believers and pilgrims.
