The auto marathon in honor of the 85th anniversary of the Vitebsk region has started in the region's district centers
On the first day of the auto marathon, held in the Vitebsk region in honor of the region's 85th anniversary, its participants, starting from Vitebsk, visited Liozno, Dubrovno, and Orsha, BELTA correspondent reports. BELTA.

First Secretary of the Regional Committee of the BRSM Vladimir Babichev met with representatives of the working youth, including young men and women from the fields of education, sports, healthcare, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations. He spoke about the most significant events of the past year, the region's achievements over the last few years, and inquired about which of the local youth knew what the Liozno region was famous for. It turned out that many had heard about the industrial enterprises and cultural brands, including, for example, the local flax mill and the regional festival-competition "Songs of Sunny Barrows".
The concert program brought together representatives of different generations in the school assembly hall. One of the central events of the auto-marathon was the handover of a mini-map of the Liozno district and its history to the employees of the regional executive committee for the creation of a common book of memory. Deep gratitude and good wishes were expressed to Tamara Dedkova, an honorary worker of education and a near contemporary of Vitebsk region, who was born on the same day as the region was formed, January 15, but a year earlier. She was at the origins of the revival of folk songs in the district, instilled in children a love for folklore, and participated in the filming of documentaries that told about Belarusian traditions and song richness. Tamara Dmitrievna still sings - she is a soloist in the veterans' choir at the local House of Culture and remembers all the "boys and girls," now gray-haired, whom she accepted into the Pioneers several decades ago.
The culmination of the celebration was the "85" flash mob - participants of the auto-marathon, Liozno schoolchildren and teachers formed this number with a living chain in the courtyard of the educational institution.
The same program awaits the participants of the auto-marathon in all district centers of the region. It will conclude on February 10 in Vitebsk. Based on the results of the event, a single video diary of the auto-marathon will be compiled, a common puzzle map of the Vitebsk region will be assembled, and a book of the northern region with stories about each district center will be created. All this will be available to see at the "Man of the Year of Vitebsk Region" award ceremony, scheduled for February 17. -0- Photo by Alexander Khitrov, BELTA.
