More than 155,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine against coronavirus infection COVID-19
– This is about 14% of the region's population, – said Lyudmila Kovalyova, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Healthcare of the Regional Executive Committee. – Two vaccines were used in the fight against the spread of coronavirus infection – the Russian "Gam-COVID-Vac" ("Sputnik V") and the Chinese "Vero Cell". Currently, the Russian vaccine is available, which is effective against new strains of coronavirus. Vaccination rates are gaining momentum to achieve herd immunity, which will be formed when 60% of the population is vaccinated.
First priority is given to the most vulnerable categories of workers – medicine and social services, including social workers, and individuals living in 24-hour care facilities. Among these categories of citizens, vaccination has reached 75%, followed by education workers.
Vaccination is voluntary; all those who wish to protect themselves from coronavirus infection and unpredictable consequences after the illness can contact the polyclinics at their place of residence, rural outpatient clinics, and vaccination points organized in shopping centers "TriO", "Marko-City". Mobile vaccination teams are also dispatched to work collectives.
By the way, foreign citizens can get vaccinated on a paid basis in eight healthcare facilities of the region (in large cities and border areas) by submitting an application on the healthcare facility's website in advance.
