More than 44,000 children will recover in summer camps in the Vitebsk region

This year, nearly 1.5 thousand more children than during last year's summer holidays will be able to recover in the camps of the Vitebsk region. This was reported by the representative office of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Republican Center for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population.

In the northern region, 36 children's health resorts are operating, including three leased ones. "The list of stationary children's health resorts (CHRs) in our region, which has the largest number of them among all regions of Belarus, will be replenished with one more - based on the 'Vetraź' children's rehabilitation center in the Postavy district. Parents who take advantage of the opportunity to send their child there for summer holidays will be able to receive bonuses - in addition to the voucher, they can purchase procedures for strengthening the musculoskeletal system for an additional cost," the regional department said.

The number of vacationing children will also increase this year by almost 1.5 thousand - more than 44.2 thousand compared to 43 thousand people in 2023. "It can already be said today that camps of all types will be full. In those where three full-length shifts and a fourth, shortened, ten-day shift were organized, they intend to hold a full fourth shift for the children. There are many interested people. The majority of CHR owners in the Vitebsk region have decided that they will provide health improvement for children not for the 15 days recommended by the Council of Ministers' resolution, for which state subsidies are calculated, but for 18 or 21 days," the department reported.

The average cost of a voucher will be about Br700. The state subsidy this year will be Br248 for each voucher.

More than Br800 thousand were allocated from the regional budget for the preparation of camps for the season. The funds are already being used to strengthen the material and technical base and for major repairs. Br105 thousand were also allocated from the republican budget for these purposes.

Based on the experience of previous years, parental days will not be held in the camps. "The children are in an environment designed by professionals. A special menu is developed for them, which the cooks adhere to. A doctor and a nurse monitor their health, and educators organizeorganize leisure activities. And parents must be sure that their children are in safe conditions in such camps," - emphasized the specialists of the regional department.
