Delegations from Uzbekistan visited healthcare and medical education institutions in the Vitebsk region
Heads of higher education institutions and technical schools of public health of Uzbekistan got acquainted with the approaches to training specialists of higher and secondary levels at the Vitebsk State Medical University and the Vitebsk Medical College.
The Vitebsk State Order of Friendship of Peoples Medical University cooperates with many leading foreign universities in the field of medical science, education, and practical healthcare. In particular, in Uzbekistan, VSMU has established interaction with higher education institutions of a medical profile in Bukhara, Karshi, Termez, and Samarkand. Today, new contacts have been established. The development of joint residency training programs, student and faculty exchanges is planned. The parties are convinced that such cooperation accelerates the exchange of modern knowledge and technologies, and contributes to the development of innovative forms of medical education, science, and healthcare.
Practicing physicians, heads of hospitals, clinics, and territorial medical associations of the Central Asian state learned about the possibilities of providing medical care in medical institutions of various levels in Orsha and Vitebsk.
In Orsha, the guests learned about the treatment approaches at the multidisciplinary city hospital No. 1 named after N.A. Semashko and became acquainted with the operating principle of the inter-district center.
In Vitebsk, Uzbek doctors were told about the structure and functioning of the region's healthcare system, and how primary medical care is provided in district hospitals, general practitioner clinics, and фельдшерско-акушерских пунктах (paramedic-midwife stations). They were then introduced to the tactics, modern diagnostic and treatment methods for which the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary is renowned in Belarus. This year alone, the method of detecting potentially dangerous tumors in the early stages – high-tech venous blood analysis PanTum Detect – has been implemented here, CAR-T cell therapy has begun to be used – a method of treating cancer patients using their own immune cells, and modern laparoscopic surgeries are also performed.
Uzbekistan is ready to adopt the best practices of foreign countries, including the Republic of Belarus, in the process of transforming medicine. The guests appreciated the equipment, the оснащенность (equipment level) of our medical institutions, the warmth in the rooms, despite the cold outside, and the hospitality of Belarusians.
— I mainly focused on the work of maternity and child services. Recently, there has been no maternal mortality here at all, and infant mortality rates are very low. I was also interested in the work of the primary healthcare level, the фельдшерско-акушерских пунктах (paramedic-midwife stations), — shared her impressions, the head of the Dzhambay District Medical Association of the Samarkand Region, Tozagul Kholikova.
The guests noted that there are differences in the healthcare systems of Uzbekistan and Belarus, which is why they came to see interesting approaches.
