Dmitry Khoma: "More than 70 percent of voters in the Vitebsk region who received ballots supported the changes to the Constitution"
Dmitry Leonidovich noted that all stages of the campaign took place in a calm atmosphere without significant remarks. The number of citizens' appeals regarding the preparation and conduct of the voting throughout the entire campaign (up to and including February 27) was small and not of a fundamental nature.
Voter turnout at polling stations for the region as a whole was 81.11 percent. Over 43 percent voted early. All districts of the Vitebsk region were at their best in this regard, but among them there are leaders. The best indicator is the Dokshitsy district, where turnout was 90.04 percent. Dubrovno district had 89.45, and Beshenkovichi district had 88.1 percent.
Of the 833,981 residents of the region included in the voting lists, for 12.5 thousand young people, the referendum became their first election campaign. All those who voted for the first time in a socio-political campaign of this level were presented with congratulatory cards from the Central Commission of the Republic of Belarus for Elections and Republican Referendums.
Dmitry Khoma reported that on the same day, February 28, the territorial commissions for the referendum formed in the Vitebsk region will hold meetings where they will establish the final voting results in their territories. The next day, the regional commission, having received the relevant protocols, will establish the final results of the referendum for the Vitebsk region. Then the documents will be transferred to the Central Election Commission. After that, the Central Election Commission will summarize the final results of the republican referendum.
