Eduard Moguchiy: The Story of an Experienced Adjuster Who Dedicated 30 Years to the Vitebsk Tractor Parts Plant
Everyone at the native enterprise knows Eduard Moguchiy – a strong man who fully lives up to his surname with his personal and professional qualities. He doesn't waste words – he gets things done. He fixes technical malfunctions skillfully and efficiently. He learned the specifics of the machines through experience, having worked on each of them for more than a day or two, and now he readily shares his knowledge with newcomers.
When meeting with "VV" correspondents, the experienced fitter did not dwell on his work for long, but immediately invited the guests into the holy of holies – mechanical assembly section No. 3 – and demonstrated what he does.
The workshop begins right behind the checkpoint. This room is filled with people and is very noisy; workers do not operate without earplugs.
– Here it is, my beauty, – Eduard introduces us to his favorite machine, as if to an old friend. – My first workplace was here in the early 1990s. Keeping it in order is a matter of honor for me.
The man came to the plant on his father's advice and did not regret it: during the perestroika period, the enterprise provided him with a stable income and confidence in the future.
Upon first seeing the giant aggregate machines, he was impressed and firmly decided to master a new trade.
– I started working on the line that makes the 26th axle for tractors. It included a milling machine, six lathes, and several thread-cutting machines. I learned to work on each of them, – recalls Eduard. – And 15 years ago, I became a fitter, and started preparing various machines for operation.
According to the interviewee, each part has its own cycle. If you know how everything works, your hands automatically perform the setup according to the algorithm. The most intricate schemes are recorded in a notebook that Eduard always carries with him.
– With the advent of CNC machines with electronic setup, my workload has decreased, but thanks to them, the overall productivity has increased, – says the specialist. – Our equipment is frequently updated.
Eduard likes the factory team. Over 30 years, he has met many people passionate about their work. He remembers his mentor, adjuster Aleksey Kolesnik, who proved to the young specialist that his chosen profession was interesting and necessary. Now he is a mentor himself.
– I’ve had various apprentices, but I teach them according to one scheme. First and foremost, order at the workplace; all parts should be at hand, – the adjuster shares his experience.
If everything goes according to plan, after a few months, the young specialist begins to work independently. A capable apprentice is noticeable right away; it is enough to show them an operation literally a few times. Sometimes, someone finds their own approaches to the job, and then the mentor learns himself.
Colleagues trust the experienced employee, value his life wisdom, and often come to him for advice on work and personal matters. Eduard is a member of the trade union committee, defends the interests of the factory workers, and helps resolve various issues.
– My whole life is connected with this factory, – the interlocutor smiles. – I am glad that it is developing and modernizing.
