Computer Science Without a Socket. Vitebsk Preschoolers to Receive IT Knowledge from an Early Age Under the Hi-Tech Park Project

A school for early development in the IT sphere has been opened at Kindergarten No. 19 in Vitebsk as part of the "Informatics Without a Socket" project. The organizer is the Secretariat of the Board of Directors of the High-Tech Park (HTP), a BELTA correspondent reports.
The project has been implemented since 2019 with the support of the Ministry of Education. It is designed to teach children of senior preschool age, from 5 to 7 years old, and aims to develop their algorithmic skills: young IT specialists learn to structure and operate information by performing logical operations without using a computer.

This academic year, applications for participation in the "Informatics Without a Socket" project were received from 606 preschool educational institutions in the republic, including 58 kindergartens in the Vitebsk region, from 168 cities and towns in all regions of Belarus. More than 10.5 thousand children have started their studies, including 886 preschoolers in the northern region.

"The "Informatics without a socket" project in this kindergarten is the beginning of something big. Learning informatics from an early age is very important. First kindergarten, then school, then, perhaps, some Hi-Tech Park branch will open here or we will create a Silicon Valley. Ideally, it would be good for such an initiative to be implemented in every preschool institution. Here, the foundations of logic are developed, the basis of IT literacy is laid," said Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin at the opening of the early development school in the kindergarten and thanked the representatives of the Hi-Tech Park for their participation in the development of young residents of Vitebsk.
