Instrumental, theatrical, and vocal laboratories will open at the "Slavianski Bazaar" this year
Three laboratories at once – theatrical, vocal, and instrumental – will operate at the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" this year. This was announced at a press conference dedicated to the preparation and holding of the XXXIII International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" by the General Director of the "Vitebsk" Cultural Center, Director of the Forum, and Member of the Council of the Republic, Gleb Lapitsky.
The international forum maintains its educational focus. "In addition to our theatrical laboratory, the result of which over three years is that this year the theatrical program at the 'Slavianski Bazaar' is opened by 'Hamlet,' which you will hear in Belarusian for the first time. This is thanks to Alexander Alexandrovich Barmak, who has been heading the theatrical laboratory for the third year – this year we are implementing it together with GITIS. Next, under the patronage of Tamara Sinyavskaya, there will be a continuation of the vocal laboratory," Gleb Lapitsky said. "We were prompted that we are somewhat neglecting the instrumentalists. And the instrumentalists of Vitebsk are a special category, because Vitebsk has the strongest school of the domra, the Belarusian national instrument. When we thought about how to combine this, we realized that we also need to involve the Russian national instrument – the balalaika. And the best school of the balalaika is at Gnesinka (the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. – BELTA's note)."
Following a phone call with the rector and a personal meeting, the parties decided that the project would proceed. "Now, together with Gnesinka, we will conduct the instrumental laboratory at our Sullertinsky Music College," Gleb Lapitsky concluded.
The instrumental laboratory will operate at the "Slavianski Bazaar" for the first time this year. Such projects, he noted, show that the forum is "not only about dances, entertainment, and so on, but also includes an exhibition, theatrical program, the 'Puppet Quarter' program, and a huge philharmonic program."
Among the jury members will be Colombian-American pianist Pilar Leyva, whose candidacy was proposed by the Vitebsk festival's partners in Kaluga. Gleb Lapitsky noted that this refers to the competition of artists, whose jury includes producers,choreographers, instrumentalists, and together they must evaluate the artist, who in turn must "grab by the gills" a six-thousand-seat amphitheater.
"Slavianski Bazaar" is the only festival in the world for which there are no borders. Unlike some other projects, where people are invited or not invited, we invite everyone," noted the director of the forum, adding that this is confirmed by the unchanging motto of the festival "Through Art – to Peace and Understanding". On July 5, the "Slavianski Bazaar" program begins with a master class by Pilar Leyva in Minsk at the Belarusian State Academy of Music for the country's best pianists using her author's methodology.

The program includes visits to the main venues of the forum, including the Summer Amphitheater, the Alley of Laureates of the Special Prize of the President of Belarus "Through Art – to Peace and Understanding", the "Dukhovskoy Kruglik" exhibition hall with the first "bazaar poster" and accreditations of famous stars presented there, and the renovated "Vitebsk" concert hall. "Slavianski Bazaar" will be held this year from July 9 to 15.
