The head of the regional council, Dmitry Demidov, knows how to fulfill the dreams of the pupils of the regional Children's Home
– The traditional "Yolka Zhelaniy" campaign provides an opportunity to help and share the New Year's spirit with children. And although the state does everything possible to ensure that the children are well-cared for, fed, and lack nothing, every child still needs more human warmth, attention, and care, especially in the pre-New Year days, – noted Dmitry Demidov. – It is wonderful that many volunteers are participating in the charity campaign, dedicating their free time to this noble cause.
The head of the parliamentary body, along with his assistant Nikolai Romanovsky, bought gifts for five pupils of the regional specialized children's home – Zhenya, who asked Ded Moroz for a tactile book, Misha, who wished to see new sandals under the Christmas tree for the New Year, and Maxim, Semyon, and Eva, who ordered toys.
As Elena Mizerkina, the chief physician of the regional specialized children's home, said, there are currently about 80 children in the healthcare institution. Many of them are less than a year old, so the staff sometimes writes the wishes on the photo cards themselves, based on the children's needs.
– We very meticulously compile the wishes for each photograph. Of course, the main need for us now is hygiene products, as we have many children under one year old and those who need diapers on a permanent basis. From 5 to 7 diapers per child are used per day, – said Elena Mizerkina. – Charity events help us a lot. And it should be said that every year there are more and more people who want to do a good deed, to give our children a New Year's fairy tale.
As reported by the chairperson of the regional organization of the Belarusian Red Cross Society, Galina Zhelanova, since the beginning of the campaign, volunteers have collected 650 gifts, the majority of which have already been presented to children.
The essence of the campaign is to help children who find themselves in difficult life situations. For this purpose, "Christmas Trees of Wishes" with photographs and requests from children to purchase a particular gift (clothing, toys, books, stationery) have been installed in major shopping centers of the city – "Marko-City", "Green", "Gippo", "Korona". You can also do this by transferring funds using a smartphone, by scanning a special QR code, or by putting them in the volunteers' collection box.
The campaign will last until January 15, 2025. Join the campaign and give children a happy New Year!
