Команда Витебского кадетского училища выиграла республиканскую олимпиаду «Патриот»
The team of the Vitebsk Cadet School won the republican cadet intellectual and creative Olympiad "Patriot", which was dedicated to the 290th anniversary of the birth of Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov. Students of the 10th-11th grades of all cadet schools in the country, as well as the Minsk Suvorov Military School, the specialized lyceum of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the specialized lyceum at the University of Civil Protection of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, competed for victory.

The Olympiad program included five competitions. The Vitebsk team won in "Business Card", "Homework", the public speaking competition, and the competition for knowledge of film content. In addition, they shared first place with another team in testing on the history of Belarus and pre-conscription training, and took second place in the captains' competition.

It is noteworthy that the Vitebsk Cadet School has been winning the "Patriot" Olympiad for the sixth year in a row. And the team is invariably coached by music director Yuri Grigorovsky and social studies teacher Alexander Grigoriev.

– To participate in this Olympiad, we select not just intellectually developed children, but also those with a broad outlook, communicative, and with creative thinking, – said Yuri Vladimirovich. – Moreover, we start selecting from ninth-grade students who are enrolled in the team as reserves. By observing the older students from the sidelines, the younger ones gain experience.

At last year's Olympiad, Ilya Azarenko was such a reserve. This year he was the captain of the team.

– I like the subject "History", so it is very interesting to participate in such an Olympiad, – noted Ilya Azarenko. – I also wanted to overcome my fear of the stage and I am glad that I succeeded. I had not performed on stage at such large-scale events before.

– Participation in the Olympiad broadens one's horizons, provides an opportunity to improve knowledge in pre-conscription training and the history of Belarus, – emphasized team member Daria Yagodko. – I especially liked the competition for knowledge of films on military-historical themes.
