State Property Committee: Former furniture factory "Zarya" in Vitebsk sold at auction
The sold complex includes two production buildings, an administrative and utility building, a woodworking shop, a metal warehouse, a boiler room, a heating network, and equipment. The factory and its products were known throughout the Soviet Union – the main activity was the production and repair of furniture.
The factory barely survived the difficult 1990s. At that time, like many large enterprises in the entire post-Soviet space, the "Zarya" furniture factory was on the verge of bankruptcy. In the 2000s, attempts were made to save the factory's operations – new management appeared, a complete modernization of production took place, the staff was updated, and new progressive technologies and materials were introduced. However, in 2017, RSУ of Vitebsk, which it was part of, was declared bankrupt.
"Zarya" factory began its operations back in 1951 as the Vitebsk handicraft cooperative of disabled people "Zarya", which in 1960 was renamed the Vitebsk furniture factory "Zarya". The real estate of the former factory was put up for auction for the 4th time, this time with a reduction in the estimated value by 80%. 2 buyers claimed the lot.
The winner was determined at the 6th step of the auction – it was "AleorStroyGroup" LLC from Vitebsk, which acquired the property of the former factory for 196,910 rubles. In the future, the new owner plans to locate an administrative building here and expand production activities.
