Police, medics, and rescuers practiced emergency situations at the Summer Amphitheater in Vitebsk

Assistance in case of malaise, elimination of threats, and emergency evacuation of spectators from the Summer Amphitheater – these situations were practiced during joint exercises on the eve of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" festival by police officers, medics, and emergency services personnel.

On the approach to the main stage of the international arts festival, near the Summer Amphitheater, spectators will have to pass through checkpoints to get to the concert. Here, police officers will check if visitors have any prohibited items that could pose a threat to the life and health of those attending concerts in the amphitheater. One of the situations, where such an item was found in a spectator's bag, was practiced by the police – the offender was immediately immobilized, and a rapid response team took him to the internal affairs department.

Law enforcement officers also monitor the well-being of citizens at the checkpoints. According to the exercise scenario, one person in the queue felt unwell, and police officers called the ambulance crew on duty near the amphitheater, who responded promptly to the signal. The simulated patient received assistance and was taken to a special vehicle to determine if hospitalization was necessary.

Law enforcement officers are ready to respond promptly to any threats. A sapper-pyrotechnic service team arrived at the amphitheater upon a signal from utility workers who discovered an object resembling an explosive device in a trash can. The work of dog handlers and their loyal four-legged friends, coordinated actions of sappers – and the potentially dangerous item was seized.

Regarding the safety of festival guests directly in the auditorium of the Summer Amphitheater, everything is also provided for and worked out to the point of automation. During drills on the stage area, an employee of the information service, recognizable in the hall by their bright lime-green vests, noticed a fire. He immediately gave a signal, the audience was evacuated towards safe exits, and meanwhile, rescuers arrived at the simulated fire source. They had to not only extinguish the localized fire but also assist one of the spectators.

Exercises at the Summer Amphitheater showed that all services that will be on duty here during the large-scale cultural event know how to act in emergency situations.

"Law enforcement agencies have carried out significant preparatory work in the field of public order protection to create comfortable conditions for citizens and ensure their safety at the highest level. Festival events are planned at 24 main venues. Daily, 20 checkpoints with 63 passages will be operational for admitting citizens to the festival venues (Summer Amphitheater and Vitebsk Concert Hall)," noted the Head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Andrey Lyubimov.
