More than Br7 million will be allocated for the construction of a new sports and recreation center in Lepel
The construction of the new facility, "Fitness and Wellness Center with Swimming Pool," in Lepel began in October last year. The work is being carried out under the state program "Physical Culture and Sports" for 2021-2025. Funding for the construction is planned at over Br7 million from the republican budget. Upon completion, the swimming pool will be transferred to the district executive committee's sector for sports and tourism. It is expected that the sports facility will be able to accommodate up to 220 people per day and over 5,000 people per month.
The first floor of the building will feature a 25-meter and a 10-meter children's pool. The children's hydrotechnical facility with a shallow pool will delight the youngest swimmers aged up to 6 years. As noted by the executive committee, all conditions for access by persons with disabilities are provided during construction, and the facility is also intended for wellness sessions. The fitness and wellness center building will include a gym, a sports hall, and a mini-cafe with 8 seats.
"The Fitness and Wellness Center with Swimming Pool will serve as a base for training sessions for students of educational institutions and children's and youth sports schools in the district. Sports games and fitness and wellness events for the public will be held here. The swimming pool will be a base for forming essential swimming skills and abilities, improving health and physical development of the population, attracting children to extracurricular activities, and organizing their meaningful leisure time," the district executive committee emphasized. They added that the doors of the fitness and wellness center will be open to residents of Lepel and the district, as well as other regions.
