At an off-site meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services, the implementation of the "Clean Water" subprogram and the work with solid municipal waste in the Vitebsk region were considered.
The board members familiarized themselves with the implementation of the "Clean Water" subprogram using the example of the agro-town Zhernoseki, Polotsk District. Here, after reconstruction, the treatment facilities were put into operation. The General Director of Vitebskvodokanal Alexey Khvalko also informed the participants of the event about the implementation of the "Clean Water" subprogram in the Vitebsk region. It is being successfully implemented, which was the reason for holding the board meeting in the Vitebsk region. By the end of next year, Vitebskvodokanal plans to provide quality drinking water to all consumers with whom the enterprise has contracts.
The next facility was the construction of the "Novopolotsk Regional Municipal Solid Waste Management Complex". The complex is designed to serve Polotsk and Novopolotsk, as well as Polotsk, Rossony, and Ushachi districts. An area of 27 hectares will house a system for sorting, processing, and disposing of waste.
– The territory will include composting, crushing, and sorting sites. The project envisages the construction of access roads, artesian wells, fire reservoirs, and leachate storage tanks, as well as a weighbridge and a checkpoint, – said Sergey Velyugo, Director of UP "Biomekhzavod of household secondary resources". – The landfill will also house a production building with canopies and extensions. It will contain a production and technical area for vehicle maintenance and a boiler room. Sorted secondary material resources will be stored under the canopies.
Incidentally, the commissioning of the facility will allow for the utilization of over 60% of solid municipal waste from their total volume.
