Careless handling of fire

  Careless handling of fire, unfortunately, still holds a leading position among the main causes of fires. Many citizens have a habit of smoking in bed. While it doesn't always lead to a fire and loss of life, burnt blankets, sheets, and pillows are quite common where people like to smoke before going to sleep. When lighting a cigarette in bed, a person is unlikely to think about the consequences, yet they are often very sad.

If you want to save your own life, the lives of your loved ones, and your property accumulated over the years from fire, then only by observing primitive fire safety rules can you avoid disaster!!!

Main causes of fires in residential premises due to residents' fault

1. Non-compliance with safety regulations in the kitchen. Spilled vegetable oil, towels placed near stove burners, curtains placed close to the stove, and a stove left unattended are potential sources of ignition.

2. Inattentiveness and careless attitude towards belongings. A lamp without a lampshade covered with paper or fabric, cleaning clothes with flammable substances (gasoline) can become a source of ignition.

3. Children left unattended. Children's carelessness, mischief, and curiosity are significant causes of fires. Inability to use electrical appliances and gas due to age causes a high degree of danger.

4. Use of heating stoves in private houses with violation of safety regulations. Use of flammable and combustible liquids to ignite the stove.

5. Unattended switched-on heaters, use of homemade heating devices. Heating appliances covered with fabric while switched on.

6. Thawing of sewage and water pipes using open flame. The high thermal conductivity of metal when heating a metal pipe can provoke ignition of materials and substances in contact with the pipe.

To prevent fires due to careless handling of fire:

·                    do not leave open flames (burning candles, heating appliances, bonfires, grills) unattended;

·                    place candles on a non-combustible base;

·                    keep burning candles away from flammable materials;

·                    do not smoke in bed or while lying down, when tired, or under the influence of alcohol;

·                    never discard cigarette ash from an ashtray into a waste bin immediately after extinguishing a cigarette, as you may not notice small smoldering particles. It is advisable to do this no earlier than 3-4 hours later;

install a standalone smoke detector at home. Regularly check its operation by pressing the test button.
