The regional New Year's ball was held in Vitebsk

The regional ball for college and university students gathered nearly 90 representatives of talented youth from across the region in Vitebsk.

The main attribute of this year's governor's ball was the cornflower. It adorned the attire of participants and honored guests. The eye-pleasing azure, mixed with white and silver colors, filled the ballroom decorations.

Maria Korchik, a student at the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine, shared that it was her first time attending the ball and she was very impressed by the festive atmosphere. "Everything is wonderful. It feels like you're transported centuries back in time. Everything is captivating, especially the decorations, it's simply delightful!" the girl shared. She got to attend the ball thanks to her sporting achievements (Maria is a candidate for master of sports in freestyle wrestling). She is also an activist and an excellent student. During the preparation for the ball, the most challenging part for her were the rehearsals of classical dances. Before this, she had only briefly studied choreography in school, and mastering the intricate steps and turns was not an easy task for her. However, she showed her usual perseverance here as well, to perform brilliantly at the pre-New Year's celebration. The student wished the youth representatives to be diligent, study hard and learn with pleasure, realizing the value of each moment that will never be repeated in the future.

For cadet Maxim Gavrilenko of the Polotsk Cadet School, waltzes and mazurkas are not new, despite the fact that he attended the regional New Year's Ball for the first time. He has been attending similar events at the cadet school for four years in a row, and paired dances come easily to him. He also gave valuable advice to his peers who yearn for their cherished wishes to come true, especially on the eve of the New Year. "The main thing is to be patient. At the moment when you want to give up everything, you need to remember how far you have already come, and not give up," said the young man.

Representatives of the regional executive committee, city authorities, and rectors of universities in the Vitebsk region watched with excitement as yesterday's children, and today's beautiful ladies and gallant gentlemen, twirled to the sounds of the orchestra in ancient dances. Polonaise, waltz, and polka perfectly emphasized the festive atmosphere. "It is pleasant to see such young and already accomplished people. You are talented, intelligent, and you have everything ahead of you. I would like to wish you health and, in addition to that, to set yourselves seemingly unattainable goals. Aim higher, and then you will see that all your dreams can be realized," said Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, expressing his wishes to the youth.
