About 20,000 children in the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated against COVID-19
Vaccination against coronavirus in the Vitebsk region continues quite actively. According to operational data as of September 19, 72% of the residents of the northern region, or more than 772 thousand people, have completed the full course. For the adult population, Sputnik Light and Gam-COVID-Vac preparations are used. Pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, as well as children receive the Sinopharm vaccine. In the age category from 5 to 17 years, about 20 thousand children have been vaccinated in the northern region. "Booster vaccination is proceeding at an active pace. In total, more than 393 thousand people have undergone it in the region, which is 56.6% of the contingent subject to vaccination. Every district is working well at this stage," noted Vladimir Sinkevich.
According to him, traditionally in the first autumn month, an increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections is observed. "The increase is due to the specifics of the period. In September, children return to kindergartens and schools, young people to vocational and higher education institutions, adults return to work from vacations," explained the chief physician. "Medical workers are directing their efforts to minimize the risks of illness and the consequences that may arise after the infection. Vaccination plays a key role in this work." According to the specialist, one should not forget about maintaining social distance in public places and respiratory etiquette.
Medical workers continue to conduct explanatory work among the population of the northern region, meet with work collectives, and organize mobile vaccination points. Also, preparations are underway in the region for the flu vaccination campaign, which will begin in the coming days.
