A dangerous psychotropic substance, amphetamine, was hidden by a Latvian citizen under a phone case, intending to import it into Belarus. Customs officers initiated a criminal case, and the individual was detained.

A 23-year-old citizen of the Republic of Latvia intended to import 1.06 grams of amphetamine into Belarus. He hid the dangerous psychotropic substance under a mobile phone case.

The citizen entered our country in a Cadillac SRX vehicle through the "Grigorovshchina" border crossing point. A service dog of the customs service immediately indicated the possible movement of prohibited substances by this person. The citizen initially denied this fact.

After inspecting the citizen's personal belongings, Vitebsk customs officers discovered the amphetamine. And then the young man explained that he uses the dangerous psychotropic substance to stay awake while driving.

An examination was conducted, which confirmed that 1.06 grams is a large quantity for this type of psychotropic substance.

The citizen has been detained. The Vitebsk customs has initiated a criminal case against him in accordance with Part 2 of Article 328-1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

Customs promptly notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and the citizen's relatives about his detention. Despite this, the Latvian side is staging provocations, announcing through the media the disappearance of this person in Belarus due to the unlawful actions of the Belarusian special services.
