Orsha hospitably received the "Flame of Peace" torch relay of the II European Games and passed it on to the Mogilev region

On May 29, Orsha became the center of one of the most spectacular sporting events in Europe. The flame of the "Flame of Peace" II European Games relay arrived here.

More than 500 students from the city's educational institutions and hundreds of Orsha residents met it near the Jesuit collegium to become participants in the sports festival. But first, the delegation, which had traveled through eight countries, proceeded through the territory of the region's backbone enterprise – the Orsha Flax Mill. The right to carry the "Flame of Peace" was given to Oleg Tronik, a native of Orsha, Commercial Director of Kino Mayak LLC.

The staff of the flax mill eagerly awaited the handover of the relay.

– By welcoming the "Flame of Peace," we want to support our athletes who will soon have to defend the colors of the Belarusian flag at the II European Games, – said Elena Kavetskaya, Chairperson of the Trade Union Committee of the Orsha Flax Mill. – From the trade union, we are organizing a trip – on June 29, we will go to the final competitions in gymnastics. We wish health, endurance, and victories to all our athletes!

Representatives from various fields who have achieved high results in their activities and brought fame to the region and the country were given the right to carry the flame through the city streets. These include Master of Sports, member of the Belarusian Paralympic swimming team, black belt holder in karate Alexey Talai; European U8 Chess Champion, World Rapid Chess Champion, member of the national team Mikhey Naumenko; artist, representative of Belarus at the Venice Biennale in 2017 Roman Zaslonov, and many others.

– This is a memorable celebration of sport, solidarity, and friendship for the entire country and every city the relay passes through, – said Alena Klimovich, a resident of Orsha, winner of international festivals, silver medalist of the X Open Youth Delphic Games of the CIS Member States 2015, and participant of the exemplary circus studio "Arena."

In the evening, the "Flame of Peace" relay departed from the Orsha railway station to the Mogilev region.
