Plus 5%: Vitebsk region enterprises plan to increase exports

Sanctions and lockdowns – such extraordinary measures do not always hinder the development of partnerships between countries. Vitebsk residents have proven this. A one-and-a-half-fold increase and 2.5 billion dollars: these are the results of the work of enterprises in the Vitebsk region in foreign economic activity last year.

Valentina Glebko, Head of the Foreign Economic Activity Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economics Committee, spoke about the industrialists' plans for the current year:

– A comprehensive set of measures has been developed for the further development of the region's economic sector, – Valentina Alexandrovna shares her plans for the near future. – The main directions of foreign trade are: increasing sales of agricultural products and foodstuffs by 6-8 percent, deeper processing of raw materials as a result of the construction of new production facilities, and an 8-10 percent increase in lumber exports due to the modernization of the enterprises "Vitebsk Lesopilka", "Akitama", "KimaBel".

Economists plan to increase sales of cable products abroad by 10 percent – this will be facilitated by state support provided to LLC "PO "Energokomplekt". In terms of supply geography, the main focus is on countries of the so-called "far arc". Exports of goods to these countries are expected to increase from 8 to 9-10 percent.
