Almost a third of the housing commissioned in the Vitebsk region over eight months was built in rural areas
For January-August, organizations of all forms of ownership in the Vitebsk region built 1.4 thousand new apartments, as reported by the main statistical department of the Vitebsk region.
One of the important tasks in the housing issue set by the region's leadership is not the expansion of cities, but the increase in the number of affordable and comfortable housing in rural areas. Moving away from urbanization is an important strategy in solving the problem of housing shortage in the regional center and cities of regional subordination. This will also help maintain a decent standard of living in the districts and reduce the outflow of rural population to cities. In total, in the Vitebsk region, 137.2 thousand sq.m of housing were commissioned in eight months, or 1.4 thousand new apartments. Of these, almost a third (37.5 thousand sq.m) were built in rural settlements, accounting for 27.4% of the total number of housing commissioned in the region.

Until the end of the year, the focus will also be on the construction of individual residential houses. For eight months, 81.4 thousand sq.m of these were commissioned, which is slightly less than 60% of the total number of housing built in the region.
Also, a large part of the housing is being built for citizens in need of improved housing conditions. From January to August, 62.6 thousand sq.m of housing were built for this category of residents in the region, which is 45.6% of the total number of commissioned housing. Of this amount, citizens used state support for the construction of 50.9 thousand sq.m of housing.
