The leadership of the Vitebsk region addressed the internationalist soldiers and the relatives of fallen soldiers in Afghanistan and other countries

February 15 is a day of remembrance, courage, and unbreakable military brotherhood for veterans of combat operations.

The Afghan War troubles the hearts of those who, as part of the limited contingent of Soviet troops, challenged international terrorism. These are the hearts of courageous, brave, and steadfast soldiers who faithfully fulfilled their military duty outside their homeland. And today, you are an example of service to the Fatherland for the youth. For this, we express our deep appreciation and gratitude.

Vitebsk region honors its sons who fell on the battlefield, grieving with their families and loved ones. It has been 35 years since the combat columns of the 40th Army left the territory of Afghanistan. 160 sons of the Dvina region died in combat operations. We remember the soldiers and officers of the 103rd Vitebsk Guards Airborne Division, the pilots of the renowned 339th Aviation Regiment, and the heroic helicopter pilots who began their journey into the sky at the A. Gorovets DOSAAF Vitebsk Aeroclub.

The events in the "hot spots" of near and far abroad serve as a reminder of the importance of preserving and maintaining peace among peoples and the unity of our society.

Please accept our sincere wishes for good health, happiness, well-being, optimism, and success in your endeavors for the benefit of the Fatherland!
