Special vehicles were handed over to the territorial centers of social services and boarding schools in the Vitebsk region
This project is being implemented on the basis of OJSC "Brestmash" with the support of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. "We have 146 territorial centers for social services for the population and 91 boarding schools. One of the main tasks is the maximum accessibility of social services. The project allows for the accessibility of services both for city residents and in the most remote settlements. Each TCSOP has day care departments for people with disabilities. There are also 158 departments for the elderly. In boarding schools, people are not confined within four walls. They attend various events, including showcasing their talents," emphasized Nikolai Oryol, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Social Services and Social Assistance of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
To ensure the mobility of people with disabilities and the elderly, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection decided to centrally procure special transport. 39 such passenger cars were manufactured by "Brestmash" by order. Of these, 23 are intended for territorial centers for social services and 16 for boarding schools. They will be delivered to all regions of the republic. In particular, today representatives of social institutions of the Vitebsk, Grodno, and Minsk regions received the keys to 18 special vehicles.
"For the Vitebsk region, we received seven vehicles - for four territorial centers of social services and three boarding schools. We are grateful to the ministry that this issue has been resolved at the republic level. The most important thing is that the quality of life for people with disabilities and elderly citizens will improve, as well as the accessibility of various services provided by our institutions," emphasized Vera Astapenko, Deputy Chairperson of the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Belarus plans to continue this program. Next year, it is planned to purchase a batch of minibuses with lifts. The Brest enterprise is also working on their production. This vehicle is built on the basis of a MAZ minibus.
