Athletes from the Vitebsk region won 9 medals at the open Belarusian swimming championship
Last Saturday, the open Belarusian swimming championship concluded in Brest with the participation of top Belarusian athletes and representatives from Russia. Athletes from the Vitebsk region won 9 medals.
Our compatriots won two gold medals in the 200-meter butterfly event. Among women in this competitive discipline, Elizaveta Akasheva was victorious (as we have already reported). Among men, multiple Belarusian record holder Ivan Shamshurin (pictured) won, clocking in at 2.00.69.
– Of course, I am happy with the first place, but I am not entirely satisfied with the result, – the Vitebsk resident commented on his performance for "Vitebskiye Vesti". – I hope to swim faster at the upcoming major competitions. This will be the Russian Championship, which will be held in Kazan from April 14 to 19.
