It has become known who will represent the Vitebsk region in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the eighth convocation
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Dmitry Demidov, the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus - Inspector for the Vitebsk Region Sergey Levkovich, members of the presidium and the regional executive committee. 371 deputies out of 679 gathered in the large hall of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, having come from all corners of the Pridvinye region. Candidates for Members of the Council of the Republic from the Vitebsk region acquainted the attendees with their biographies and programs.
Among the eight candidates are well-known, respected people, talented leaders with outstanding organizational skills. A crucial mission will be entrusted to them: to connect the region from which they were nominated with the highest echelons of the country's government, ministries, and departments.
According to the deputies of the basic-level local Councils, their colleagues possess these qualities.
This is the General Director of OJSC "Polotsk-Steklovolokno" Ilya Ikan. The leader of the city-forming enterprise was nominated by the Verkhnedvinsk and Polotsk districts.
The Vitebsk, Gorodok, Liozno, and Shumyly districts will be represented in the Council of the Republic by the Director of the state institution "Center of Culture "Vitebsk" Gleb Lapitsky.
The interests of the residents of the regional center will be delegated to the Senate by the Head of the Main Department of Trade and Services of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, a current member of the upper house of parliament, Irina Levkovich.
The candidacy of the Chairman of the Ushachi District Council of Deputies Natalia Markovich from the Gluboksky, Dokshitsky, Lepelsky, and Ushachi districts was approved.
Head of the Vitebsk Regional Emergency Situations Department, Sergey Meshkin, will represent Braslav, Miory, Postavy, and Sharkovshchyna districts in the Senate.
Director of Private Unitary Enterprise "Vitstroytehmash" Andrey Sidorov was elected as a nominee from Beshenkovichi, Senno, Tolochin, and Chashniki districts.
Head of the Orsha Car Depot of the unitary enterprise "Minsk Branch of Belarusian Railway", Boris Tikhomirov, will represent the interests of residents of Dubrovno and Orsha districts in the Senate.
And the interests of residents of Novopolotsk and Rossony district will be represented by Director of the Novopolotsk branch of the Belarusian Republican Unitary Insurance Enterprise "Belgosstrakh", Elena Furs.
During a secret ballot, all eight candidates were elected members of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation. Alexander Subbotin congratulated them on their election as members of the Council of the Republic.
Alexander Losyakin, member of the Central Commission for Elections and Referendums:
– According to the Electoral Code, a candidate for membership in the Council of the Republic must be a citizen of Belarus who has reached the age of 30 and has resided in the territory of the respective region for at least five years. All nominated candidates meet these requirements. The Central Commission considers the nomination of candidates for membership in the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation from the Vitebsk region to be legitimate.
