Over 40,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have received biometric documents
By the number of ID cards and biometric passports issued, the Vitebsk region has entered the top three leaders in the country – after Minsk and the Gomel region. Svetlana Avik, Head of the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, noted:
– To date, our departments have already issued 23,360 ID cards and 17,058 biometric passports. The most active in obtaining new documents are residents of the Pervomaysky district of Vitebsk (a total of about 7.2 thousand passports and cards), as well as the Polotsk and Orsha districts.
If we analyze the situation among small rural regions, Chashniki residents have shown particular interest in obtaining new-style documents. In this district, almost 2,000 people have already become holders of ID cards and biometric passports. Every day, the departments of citizenship and migration of the Vitebsk region receive dozens of new applications for the issuance of biometric documents.
