Tolochin celebrated its 590th anniversary with a bang
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin and Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentyev arrived to congratulate the city on its significant date.
The eventful program began at Yuzefpolye Park. Guests, a delegation from the twin Velikoluksky District of the Pskov Region, representatives of local authorities, work collectives, public associations, and youth laid flowers at the mass grave and honored the memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War with a minute of silence.
Following a colorful procession of work collectives, during which enterprises and organizations presented their products, the main concert venue of the city honored the leading workers, veterans, and labor dynasties.
Addressing the residents of Tolochin, Alexander Subbotin emphasized that the key to the city's future lies in the sincere love of its residents for their small homeland, in their boundless faith in their city, country, and its prosperity.
– The district center has enormous potential and great prospects. Tolochin is filled with creation and creative search, opening up new opportunities for development and growth, – noted the governor. - Today, its residents are together creating a new page in the chronicle of the region with its unique history and culture. Relying on the accumulated production and human potential, the district is improving production technologies, bringing order to the land, developing the social sphere and tourism infrastructure. The products of the region's enterprises are known far beyond our country.
Alexander Subbotin heartily congratulated the residents of Tolochin on the 590th anniversary of the city and the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus.
It is important to remember and honor our history. Vladimir Terentyev spoke about this.
- It is important and symbolic that the dates of cities' chronicles and the day of their liberation from the Nazi invaders, their revival from the ruins, are celebrated on the same day in most regions of our country. It is also important that the city's birthday is a wonderful opportunity to express words of gratitude to its residents, the workers, who make the regions more beautiful with their creative endeavors, thanks to whom the youth stay in their small homeland, the economy, agriculture, and the social sphere develop. And people live comfortably in such small settlements.
The Chairman of the Tolochin District Executive Committee, Oleg Lyndin, expressed words of gratitude to the workers in various fields of activity.
— Today we recall the rich history of our region, we pay tribute to those who glorify it with their labor, talent, and skill. We have something to be proud of, and this is the merit of the people who make our native land more beautiful, attractive, and prosperous, — said the head of the district.
A jubilee commemorative sign and the Board of Honorary Citizens of the Tolochin District were solemnly opened on the central square. The city park has also been transformed – an alley of the Year of Peace and Creation was laid here, and a new playground "Fairy Tale Land" was opened.
The renovated dental department of the "Tolochin Central District Hospital" was also a gift to the residents of the region. The premises were renovated, the equipment was updated, including the purchase of two new dental units.
From the very morning, guests of the region were welcomed with delicacies from the farmsteads of rural councils. Real monastery bread was tasted on the territory of the Holy Protection Convent.
Demonstration performances of wrestlers, the pirate quest "Island 112", fire CrossFit, and performances by the ensembles "Drutichi" and "Suvenir" took place in the city park.
Sports fans gathered at the "Meliorator" sports complex and stadium – a checkers tournament for veterans and people with disabilities and the 8th round match of the Championship of the Republic of Belarus in football in the second league "Niva" (Tolochin) — "Gazovik" (Vitebsk) were held here.
The street of Volodarsky in the district center became a location for the exhibition of agricultural machinery.
The work of trade rows, children's attractions, thematic platforms, photo zones, and the exhibition-fair "Tolochin – City of Masters" continues.
The evening program will be "lit up" by stars of Belarusian pop music, artists and creative groups of cultural institutions of the Dubrovno and Liozno districts.
