The trampoline center in Vitebsk will become the locomotive for the development of the sports complex of VSU named after P. Masherov

A trampoline center is planned to be built in the area of PSU named after P. Masherov in Vitebsk, which will spur the development of related sports facilities of the university and complete the formation of a block in the central part of the regional center. This was announced by Leonid Bogdanov, Deputy Head of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the City Executive Committee, during the presentation of the architectural and planning concept for the construction object "Specialized Hall for Trampoline Jumping in Vitebsk".

The development sketch has been developed in accordance with the general plan of Vitebsk and specifies its solutions for the territory around PSU, which is functionally intended for the placement of sports facilities. The construction of a landmark facility for the city on this site is fully justified and will contribute to the development of not only trampoline jumping but also other sports cultivated at the university, Leonid Bogdanov is confident. The architectural and planning concept was developed by the author's group of UP "Institute "Vitebskgrazhdanproekt". According to Alexander Zafaev, the chief architect of the enterprise, the center is planned to include a hall with nine training trampolines and a gymnastics track, which will be equipped with retractable stands for 250 seats for competitions of various levels (during starts, the number of trampolines is reduced to four). When working on the concept, the author's group took into account the wishes and opinions of representatives of the sports community. As a result of consultations, it was decided, for example, to provide for the creation of a hall with a height of 14 m. "This is higher than the regulatory requirements, but our athletes are already reaching such heights that we will have to convince the state expertise to approve the project with an increased parameter," noted Alexander Zafaev.

For the organization of TV broadcasts, appropriate lighting, a sound system, and a multimedia screen will be provided. In addition, the center plans to include a gym and an aerobics hall, a recovery complex (showers, sauna, etc.), a hotel block for non-resident athletes, and other service rooms. The total area of the center will be almost3.7 thousand sq. m. Its facades will be decorated with stained glass made of modern materials that do not require special care. "The architects are tasked with creating a center that is maximally functional from a sports point of view, while being reliable and durable, which can be built at an optimal cost and operated without excessive expenses," emphasized Alexander Zataev.

According to the architectural and planning concept, around the Trampoline Center, it is planned to build an additional educational building for VSU, a swimming pool, an outdoor sports ground, as well as to modernize the existing stadium, which will feature a stand for 500 seats. Public discussions of the project will continue until November 10, after which it will be approved as a detailed plan. Financing of the construction, which may begin as early as 2018, is expected from the regional and republican budgets.

The Vitebsk trampoline school is known worldwide, and its student Vladislav Goncharov became an Olympic champion in trampoline gymnastics in 2016. At the same time, the city still does not have a dedicated hall for this sport. Training for students of SDYUSSHOR No. 1, where about 280 people are involved in trampolining, takes place at the base of Secondary School No. 45.
